Radiant Roots | I stopped waiting for my body to change…

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”
Maya Angelou

Hey Reader–

Girl, I’m back! 💜

The summer is winding down, and after taking a little break from your inbox, I had to come back and tell you what I’ve been up to.

First of all…I’ve been having FUN!

And a big part of that has been getting back into something I had completely put on the shelf for a while:

FASHION.

If you didn’t know, I actually studied fashion in college. But life started life-ing. 😂

Work. Kids. Responsibilities. Bills. Everybody needing something. You know how it is.

Before I knew it, something I really loved had taken a backseat.

And then one day I looked at my closet and thought…

“Girl, I don’t have anything to wear.”

Meanwhile, my closet was FULL. 😂

Tell me I’m not the only one!

But honestly, it wasn’t just about my clothes.

My body had changed too.

Living with Hashimoto’s means my weight can fluctuate, and sometimes I can be wearing one size and then a couple of sizes up depending on what my body is doing.

So you know that outfit that looked AMAZING last week?

Yeah…now it’s giving “let me see if I can breathe in this thing.” 😮‍💨

And I started realizing how easy it is to fall into the trap of:

“I’ll really start dressing cute again when I lose some weight.”

“I’ll buy new clothes when I get down a few sizes.”

“I’ll feel better about myself when my stomach is flatter.”

Girl…

NOPE.

This summer, I decided I was going to dress the body I have right now.

Not the body I’m hoping to have.

Not the body I had five years ago.

This body. Today.

So I started playing in my closet again.

I pulled out things I hadn’t worn in forever.

I styled pieces differently.

I bought a few things that actually worked with my body instead of trying to force my body to work with the clothes.

And you know what happened?

THE COMPLIMENTS STARTED COMING.

😉

Women were asking me:

“Where did you get that?”

“Who makes that?”

“Girl, you look GOOD!”

And I started thinking…

How many of us are waiting to lose weight before we allow ourselves to feel good in our clothes?

How many of us are standing in a closet full of clothes saying, “I have nothing to wear,” because we don’t really know what works for our body anymore?

And how many of us are still trying to squeeze ourselves into these little boxes of “apple,” “pear,” “hourglass,” etc. when our bodies don’t fit neatly into ONE category?

That’s actually what inspired me to create The Body Confidence Guide.

Instead of just telling you to “love your body,” I wanted to give you something you can actually use.

The Body Confidence Guide is a simple, practical way to help you understand your body and figure out what actually works for YOU.

And because I know you don’t have time to read a 100-page fashion textbook 😂, I made it quick, visual and easy to use.

Here’s what you get:

The Body Confidence Guide — Learn about the different body types, how you can have characteristics of more than one, and which silhouettes, fabrics and patterns can complement your shape.

Body-Type Infographics — Quick-reference visuals with styling tips you can save to your phone and pull up whenever you’re getting dressed or shopping.

Interactive Body-Type Dashboard + Quiz - Take the quiz, explore your results and get a better idea of the body type - or combination of body types - that best describes you.

A Quick Video Explainer - Less than a minute, girl. 😂 I’ll break it down for you so you can understand the concept without overthinking it.

Basically, I did the research and organizing so you don’t have to.

And here’s the best part…

I haven't promoted this to the general public yet. The guide will normally be $27, but because you’re already part of my Radiant Roots community, you can grab it for just $10.

Yep. $10. 💜

Consider it my little “glad you’re here” gift for being on my list.

Let’s dress the body we have, girl.

And have a little fun while we’re at it. 😉

And listen…I’m not saying you can’t have goals for your body.

I’m saying you don’t have to put your life, your style, or your confidence on hold while you’re working toward them.

So if you’re ready to look at your closet differently, understand your body a little better, and start feeling GOOD when you get dressed…

Start with the Body Confidence Guide...

And then I want you to go into your closet and find ONE thing you’ve been saving for “when you lose weight.”

Put it on.

Try it.

Style it.

Take the picture.

And if you look in the mirror and think, “Okayyyy girl…”

I want you to own that. 💜

Because you deserve to feel beautiful NOW.

And don’t worry - I’m not disappearing on you again!

I took my little summer break, got back into my fashion bag, and now I’m back in your inbox regularly.

We’re going to be talking about wellness, confidence, energy, body image, fashion, lifestyle and all the messy, beautiful stuff that comes with being a woman/mom/professional/creative/etc. and trying to take care of yourself while life is life-ing.

So get comfortable, girl.

We’ve got some catching up to do.

Until next time,

De’Christia Shavonne💜
